Wrapid's contract packing arm bought by former customer

15 May 2007

Wrapid Contract Services appropriately provided its buyer with contract packing services for several years. It will continue to operate from its existing base in Astley near Manchester, retaining the same management team, led by md Tony Mottram. Absolute directors Nick Storton and Rob Peters will join the Wrapid Contract Services board as chairman and director respectively.

Established for over 17 years, Wrapid Contract Services provides what it claims is a “superior” contract packing service for many “blue chip” companies, and specialises in flowwrapping, shrinkwrapping, polywrapping, multipacking and direct mail services.

Absolute director Nick Storton says: “Absolute's expertise is in delivering solutions - sourcing products and/or packs for what are sometimes some quite unusual requirements. Inevitably the bulk of these need to be packed or filled quickly and efficiently. Wrapid has fulfilled this role for us on a regular basis for many years and it was a natural step to bring the two business together, enabling us to offer a fully integrated service to our customers.”

Storton says combining the two companies' expertise as part of a “one-stop solution” will provide “excellent growth opportunities”; in particular there are plans to further develop Wrapid's cleanroom facilities to offer a packing solution “for all types of food and pharmaceutical applications”.
