Woodway bottle divider targets online retail

29 February 2012

As part of its online retail packaging range, Woodway UK has a created a new fitting to protect glass bottles in transit.

Registered with the Intellectual Property Office, the new fitting is designed to work in conjunction with a standard shipping outer and offers protection from impacts in any axis, also eliminating the need for any other secondary packaging or void fill.

Manufactured as a one piece die cut blank, the fitting has been designed and developed to protect around all parts of the bottle, and represents a cost effective replacement for conventional divider sets.

Woodway UK MD Jason Inwood explains: “Dot-com packaging is a massive growth area for us and it is important that we continue to innovate to improve our customers, and ultimately the consumers’, experience of eCommerce.

“This product has been designed to reduce breakages and receiving a certificate from the Intellectual Property Office highlights Woodway’s creative and original approach to this fast-moving market.”

The fitting has been designed to fit within the footprint of a standard pallet measuring 1200mm in length, and will typically generate a pallet quantity six-times larger than a pallet of conventional division sets, the company says, greatly reducing storage and transportation costs for the customer.

An integral locking system ensures the fitting stays rigid, allowing packed bottles to be stored until they are ready for despatch.

Woodway also says the new fitting offers “a much higher level of aesthetics and customer experience” over traditionally constructed packs incorporating divider sets.

Trading for 30 years, Woodway UK Ltd is a privately owned company specialising in the supply chain management of packaging materials, supplying a diverse range of markets focusing on distribution, electronics, manufacturing and retailing throughout the UK.
