Videojet 1000 Line printer enhancements tackle unplanned downtime

28 June 2013

Coding and marking specialist Videojet Technologies has further extended its 1000 Line range of continuous ink jet printers.

According to the US-headquartered company, the Videojet 1620 Ultra High Speed (UHS) and 1650 UHS are up to 40% faster than the “prior industry benchmark”, the Videojet Excel UHS.

“The new Videojet UHS printers surpass even the most demanding requirements in high speed applications like beverage and canning and high code content environments like dairy,” the company says.

Offering a solution to the “traditional problem” of balancing the need for high content codes and high quality print at “ever increasing production line speeds”, the Videojet 1620 UHS and 1650 UHS incorporate Videojet’s Precision Ink Drop system and patented CleanFlow technology to provide “the ultimate in print speed”.

Effectively, the company says, producers can now print existing codes faster, or print more lines of code at current speeds without sacrificing code legibility.

Using Videojet’s Dynamic Calibration, the new 1620 UHS and 1650 UHS can also adjust jetting parameters automatically as ambient conditions change, optimising the print delivery to ensure “superior print quality”.

Unplanned downtime is kept to a minimum with both the Videojet 1620 UHS and 1650 UHS, according to the company, through advanced features including the patented CleanFlow printhead, designed to resist ink build-up that can lead to a shutdown.

In addition to its on-board Code Assurance features, the Videojet 1650 UHS also presents downtime information in a logical way to support efficient and effective problem solving, enabling users to drill into Availability data to help discover technical and operator causes of downtime.

“By designing our equipment to be more reliable, simplifying and minimising equipment interaction and making information more actionable, we have created a coding and marking solution that delivers the maximum level of uptime available on the market today,” says Videojet business unit manager Jose Gomez.
