VDMA revises film and foil specs

9 July 2003

The German engineering federation VDMA has revised its specification 8747, 'Criteria for assessing the quality of films and foils intended for manufacture of blister packs for drugs [minimum requirements]'.

It is concerned with the manufacture of blister packs for drugs on thermoforming, filling and sealing machines. So long as the minimum requirements are met, blister-packaging machinery should enjoy operating reliability.

In this revised edition of VDMA 8747 criteria for COC-films and lidding films made of PP are specified the first time. An appendix with categories of COC films is complementing this VDMA specification.
