Tubes with a tactile twist

30 July 2002

Field Packaging is staking its claim on the first multi-substrate composite tube which combines paper, cartonboard and plastics to offer a creative pack solution for alcoholic-drinks, confectionery and non-food items.

The patent-applied for tube offers the strength and large printing area of cartonboard, along with product visibility from transparent plastics. Product security is maintained by a seamed or fixed plastics base.

In addition to the multi-substrate container, Field Special Products has also produced a variation that uses two types of cartonboard. This combination enhances the natural spiral effect. It offers the opportunity to incorporate a textured effect to the outer appearance of the pack. This adds a tactile quality to the tube, particularly when textured and smooth boards are combined. The base and lid can be made from a variety of substrates including metal and plastics.
