Transparent revolution for Field

12 December 2003

Field Group says it has produced a "revolutionary" transparent polypropylene toothpaste carton for GlaxoSmithKline, which effectively uses new technology to produce machine erectable crease specification which is both measurable and controllable.

The carton manufacturer says the patent applied for carton combines robust constructional design and high quality litho print in six colours, incorporating a fine vignette as well as solid colour saturation.

Field worked with its key suppliers to develop a specific set of fast drying inks and varnishes, as well as adhesive especially suited to the substrate.

Paul Durkin, business development director at Field, says: "We have worked hard to develop our skills in the conversion of plastic materials to help offer greater choice and differentiation to our customers. The benefit of the transparent carton is to differentiate product on-shelf and support the premium image of the new launch."
