Minneapolis-based Cargill Dow has opened the world's first global-scale manufacturing facility capable of making commercial-grade plastics resins from field corn and the like. NatureWorks products represent a shift to the future where the raw material – the carbon source – is derived from annually renewable resources rather than the limited fossil resources used to make conventional plastics today.
