The planned divestment is the second undertaken in recent months by Ten Cate, which says it intends to focus strategically on its activities in the textiles and fabrics sector. Ten Cate Plasticum ceo Jeroen Jonker says the key benefits will include a stronger strategic focus and commitment to the plastics business, an entrepreneurial culture and further room for expansion.
Serving leading brands in the personal; care, food and household product sectors, including Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Sara Lee and Beiersdorf, Plasticum has two plants in the Netherlands, at Ede and Tilburg, one near Freiburg in Germany, a factory in Alfreton in the UK and a small French sales office. In total these employ some 200 personnel. The company has an annual turnover of Euros 36m.
Jonker told Packaging Today the business has good future prospects, but said it was too early to comment on any impact on individual sites.
