Tasty task for Schubert line

26 November 2007

The Cornish company is reportedly so impressed it has already ordered a second line for its Callington factory. The initial system was designed by Schubert’s specialist automated packaging division, IPS, to pack a wide variety of Ginsters' chilled savoury products, including Cornish pasties, bakes, slices and sausage rolls, at up to 400/min.

Empty display trays are loaded onto a conveyor by a Schubert TLM-F2 robot, which removes them from a storage station using a special swivelling tool. Simultaneously products are fed in from an upstream machine and scanned to check for correct shape and surface decoration, with faulty items rejected.

A Schubert TLM-F44 robot with a vacuum gripper tool picks and places products into the display trays, which are then transported out of the line in preparation for the next stage of packaging.
