Styropack system cuts the heart on boiler installers

14 February 2007

Styropack UK has helped Baxi Heating UK change its entire range of high efficiency boiler packaging from corrugated cardboard to EPS.

Driven by requests from Baxi's installer base, the changeover saw Styropack design and perfect a new EPS pack with “break-off” back. The installer can simply snap off the back, lift the boiler onto the wall using handles moulded into the EPS, install it and the remove the remainder of the material.

Steve Pilkington, Baxi's group development manager, says: “Our boilers may be warehoused two or three times during the journey to a customer's home. EPS does not deteriorate in damp, cold warehousing, so its excellent compression performance remains stable. This means boilers can be safely stacked and moved around the warehouse without being damaged.”

Baxi says it has also significantly reduced the number of boilers returned damaged following the packaging switch.
