Standard Register launches ‘revolutionary’ Naturals IML natural finish range

24 June 2013

US-based Standard Register has launched IML Naturals, a range of in-mould labels said to replicate wood and metal finishes on injection moulded plastic products more effectively and at a lower price point.

Extending the company’s range of IML products, which includes Grafilm and Grafilm Ultra, Naturals in-mould labels feature numerous finishes including various types of wood grain, stainless steel, chrome, brushed nickel, brass and carbon fibre.

According to Standard Register’s industrial solutions unit, use of the new product can “dramatically improve costs” for manufacturers while improving the perception of their products and their brand in their respective markets.

Joe Klenke, senior vice president strategic development at Standard Register, says: “Until now, manufacturers have had to use real metals and woods or expensive laminates to achieve a high quality look.

“With Naturals, manufacturers gain the sought-after custom appearance with the option of using low cost moulding resins to achieve substantial cost savings.”

A variable print option also allows increased personalisation of products using Naturals IML.
