Space odyssey

The Odyssey Robotic Loading and Unloading System from Goodman Packaging has been designed to simplify the transportation of rigid or flexible packages into or out of shipping containers.

Sold in the UK through Ultrapac, Odyssey offers an alternative to traditional pick and place systems that require the package to be moved in two or three axes while the carton or container remains stationary.

The new system operates by moving the container into the correct position beneath the loading head as the product is picked up. Significant reductions in complexity, and therefore cost, are achieved by moving the case independently over a horizontal plane and the loading head independently over a vertical plane, says Ultrapac.

Odyssey's multiple functions allow up to 50 pick and place strokes/min, while offering a compact space efficient footprint.

Machine changeover can take under two minutes.
