Soft drinks set for a shake-up from Erie

28 August 2007

The patent-pending system, originally “introduced’ to Erie by start-up Pop N’ Shake Development Company, allows consumers to create their own “blended” drinks on demand. Potential market applications span bottled waters juices, teas, coffees, dairy beverages, and nutraceutical and organic preparations.

On turning a tamper-evident dust cover, the liquid, powder or other additive housed within a special PET chamber (for instance a flavour, vitamin or mineral) fuses with the user’s preferred bottled drink. “A few shakes later they enjoy a great-tasting beverage fortified with healthy, active ingredients.”

To provide a “turnkey” solution for beverage manufacturers, Erie recently completed development and installation of a fill, seal and assembly production line in a food grade processing/filling white room.
