Snacks production boost from vertical form-fill-seal

11 February 2005

Jim Graves, the UK's largest independent snack and ingredients retailer, has boosted production line capacity at its Kingswinford factory on its range of dried fruits, nuts, seeds and confectionery using an Ilapak high speed Vegatronic 3000 vertical form-fill-seal packaging machine.

The Vegatronic 3000 uses a continuous film motion to form a bag from a single reel of wrapping material, unwound at a constant speed while filling and sealing the bag simultaneously at 80 pillow packs/min. Flexibility and easy pack changeover were two of the key selection criteria. The company says it has reduced its downtime and improved productivity significantly.
