"Smart" pallet wrap

16 June 2005

Stretch film converter Vale Pack has launched a pre-stretched industrial pallet wrap called Micro-Wrap, available as both machine and hand film.

The film is fully stretched prior to winding and when the pallet is wrapped, the film's "memory" causes it to shrink back and tighten on the load.

As a result, Vale Pack says, film usage can be cut by up to 50% and pallets be wrapped much faster, lowering labour costs and operator stress. The key to the product's strength is a three-layer co-extruded Octene grade film reportedly up to "55% stronger than conventional hand films".

Reel edges are thicker, which is claimed prevent tearing, and an ultra low-density PE in the film's outside layer ensures the cling is one-sided to avoid pallets sticking together. There is also no PIB tack additive, ensuring the product is safe to use in food environments.
