Smart move on sustainability

10 September 2009

Klöckner Pentaplast is partnering Packaging 2.0 to introduce its SmartCycle rigid PET films to the US company’s already extensive line of rigid film products.

Designed to help meet packaging sustainability goals, SmartCycle films are made with a minimum guaranteed content of 50% post-consumer recycled plastics beverage bottles. They are used for general purpose, food and all-plastics box packaging applications, and comply with all applicable EU regulations and directives for direct food contact, as well as the requirements for recycled plastics materials used in food contact packaging.

KP says the SmartCycle process saves energy and natural resources ‘and, ultimately, will spur collection of bottles and potentially custom packaging’.
