Skanem plant extended to meet growing pharma label demand

21 October 2004

The new 1,050sq m facility incorporates production facilities comprising a pre-press and design department, Gallus R200 letterpress/screen combination presses printing up to 10 colours, finishing and vision control, as well as a warehouse. The plant has NS-EN ISO 9001 certification and is accredited to the Pharmaceutical Supplier Code of Practice.

Skanem Oslo has also introduced a computerised label management system that enables customers to make amendments remotely to their label designs and content at all stages of the production process.

The factory will produce a range of label sizes to fit numerous different pharma containers, as well as printing hanger labels for intravenous drips and multi-page booklet and leaflet labels for both the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.

Ole Rugland, Skanem group president, says: "We have chosen to make this plant our flagship for pharmaceutical label printing in Europe. It will provide customers with a quality assurance that brings with it a guarantee that it meets the most stringent safety requirements laid down by regulatory authorities."
