Skanem opening

16 August 2005

Senior representatives from Skanem, Europe's second largest label packaging converter (with 12 sites, including newly acquired Polish and Russian operations), came together recently as group president Ole Rugland opened the company's new £3m office and factory complex on Cardiff's Treforest Industrial Estate.

The business's 74 staff moved to the new site at the end of last year from their former location a few miles away. The new plant, believed to be among Europe's most advanced label conversion facilities, will produce labels for top names in the personal care, cosmetics and beverage sectors, and has been fitted out with new equipment worth £800,000, including the latest design, repro and pre-press systems. Rugland said that in future, Skanem, led by the Cardiff plant, would focus increasingly on new product development, with growing emphasis on "exciting technologies like RFID".
