Simpson to join the NSD fold

27 July 2007

As one of the longest-established printing firms in Scotland - and for that matter the UK - Simpson Label Company was bought by Dutch-based parent NSD over 25 years ago. NSD has preferred to allow Edinburgh-located Simpson Label to trade as an independent, however, Simpson's David Hedley says that it is time for his company to adopt the single persona of the group, which will allow the company to more easily access the “state-of-the-art” technologies available in the group's other print centres in Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania and The Netherlands.

Group Chief Executive Oege Hoekstra takes up the story. “Europe-wide, we are able to offer just about every print product and process from self-adhesive labels on film and paper, on-pack leaflet labelling, flexible packaging, UV & WB flexo, letterpress, digital, UV screen, in-line foiling embossing and presidax sequential numbering. Not surprisingly, our principal clients come from a wide range of industries, namely, cosmetics and toiletries, drinks, food, general household goods, plastic packaging, pharmaceutical/healthcare, horticultural and agrochemical industries.”

“Unquestionably, Simpson Label has benefited from being able to access a breadth of productive printing technologies but for new business reasons, the time has come to be seen as one of Europe's main players in the sector,” says David Hedley. “

The name name change is expected be complete midway through 2008.
