SIM cards in cans

20 August 2009

Aluminium cans are now being used to sell mobile phone SIM cards from vending machines in the Ukraine thanks to innovative technology from Rexam.

Rexam teamed up with Ukrainian radio-systems company TM Beeline to distribute its BOOM mobile packages. “The Boom-Banka ‘Boom Can’ contains a mobile service package and price list,” explains Anton Volodkin, director of marketing at Beeline.

The standard 500ml beverage cans, have a special plastics closure, and the colours incorporated on the can are relatively complex: specific shades need to be reproduced exactly on the beverage can, explains Rexam.
