SIG Pack sale announced

5 May 2004

The SIG Group has taken a decisive step in its strategy of focussing strongly on the packaging of liquid goods with the news, announced on April 20, of the proposed sale of its SIG Pack division to Robert Bosch Verpakkingsmachines BV.

Headquartered in Neuhasen, Switzerland, SIG Pack has 1540 staff and net annual sales of around £152.7M, manufacturing complete packaging and robotic handling lines for foodstuffs and other dry goods. It has particular expertise in designing and producing confectionery packing lines.

With 2750 staff and a £239M turnover, Bosch's Packaging Technology Division designs, produces and sells packaging machines for liquid and solid pharmaceuticals, food and confectionery products. Its parent says the purchase enhances the Division's position as a leading manufacturer in this strongly fragmented market.
