Sharp investment

27 May 2005

Sharp Interpack has made a £6M investment at its Bridgwater, Somerset site to create a 6,500 sq ft purpose-built production, storage and distribution base.

The site produces meat and other protein food packaging, dual ovenable CPET and microwaveable ready meal packs, bespoke packaging and dairy desert and salad lids. It is fully equipped with its own in-house design, prototype and toolmaking facilities.

A new high bay warehouse is also being built at the company's other site at Aylesham, Kent. The spend comes in response to a 12% rise in packaging sales to key European fresh produce retailers. The "huge increase" in demand follows both investment in the UK and the converter's establishment of an additional base in Holland.
