In a move to champion more sustainable packaging options, Seedlip is turning to a solution from nature for their new gifting range: mycelium. Mycelium is the root structure of mushrooms, a bio-contributing material, which Seedlip is introducing as part of their continued commitment as a nature company to celebrate and protect the natural world. The world currently generates 2.01 billion tons of solid waste annually, which is expected to grow to 3.4 billion tons by 20501. Whilst paper and cardboard make up 17% of global waste and plastic 12%, mycelium is 100% home-compostable meaning it does not contribute to global waste and uses a fraction of the energy to produce. Seedlip is proud to be working with the Magical Mushroom Company, who also believe in harnessing natural processes for human progress.
Fully biodegradable, recyclable & homecompostable, Seedlip’s most sustainable gift set yet includes a full-size bottle of Seedlip Spice 94, a 100% recycled glass Highball and a Thyme seed paper neck tag. The box is composed of biomass and mycelium, which creates a durable, lightweight, alternative packaging material that breaks down in compost or flower beds within approximately 40 days. In addition, the seeded neck tag [Thyme seeds] includes its own instructions for how to grow it, utilizing the biodegradable box as a planter.
