Seafood specialist reaps reliability rewards

13 October 2006

Shellfish specialist The Cromer Crab Company has installed range of Mettler Toledo static checkweighing equipment following disappointing reliability from its previous weighing machinery.

The company initially approached Mettler Toledo in December 2003 for a system that would stand up to the daily production rigours of a major shellfish producer, and prove impermeable to water ingress. The machinery specialist suggested its stainless steel BBA330 IP69k-protected scales and, after a successful six-week trial, eight units were purchased.

Impressed by the equipment's reliability, The Cromer Crab Company subsequently bought a further seven 3kg washdown static checkweighers in December 2004 and, having greatly reduced downtime by eliminating breakdowns, order a further six scales delivered in the first quarter of 2006.
