Saica supplies Carrefour

Saica Pack is supplying Carrefour with its new corrugated board tray for displaying fruit and vegetables.

Saica Form is designed to be a more sustainable alternative to traditional plastics trays and the European retail giant plans to switch from PET and EPS products,

The corrugated tray can be configured with flow packing, heat sealing or film as options.

Saica Form’s carbon footprint throughout the whole of the recycling and production process is claimed to be 76% less than that generated by a PET tray and 64% less than an EPS equivalent. The product will biodegrade completely in 30 days, adds the company.

“Our product is a market first,” said Bill Burr, development manager of Saica Pack UK. “The decision by Carrefour to switch to Saica Form for displaying fruit at its stores demonstrates that the product is cost effective, 100% recyclable and can offer savings throughout the supply chain”.
