Safeline monitors Demels chutneys

29 May 2005

Growing demand for its Sri Lankan chutneys and pickles, with a switch from domestic pans to a larger cooking vessel, has seen food manufacturer

Demels install a Safeline Certus metal detector in a new production facility at its Lake District premises.

The stainless steel Salsamat pan incorporates a metal agitator paddle and Demels was concerned this raised the possibility of product contamination should, for instance, a small nut or bolt come loose.

The Safeline Certus was chosen for its ease of use and ability to maintain an extremely high degree of sensitivity to stainless steel despite the challenge posed by the chutney products. Safeline sales and service manager Mike Bradley explains: "Highly acidic products are very demanding as they emit a high product signal which can cause false metal detector alarms in less hi-tech equipment."
