Safe passage for samples

5 February 2003

Sharp Interpack has developed a postal packaging solution for samples intended for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and agricultural industries.

Forensic laboratory Cellmark Diagnostics originally requested the development as an improved way to receive its agricultural field samples for analysis.

The system comprises an APET thermoformed tray featuring a close clip fit and a hinged, folding lid that can lie flat and also be used as a tray to hold tubes and needles while sampling is carried out.

"Cellmark required a lidded tray design that would hold and protect 10 plastics blood sample tubes," say Brian Hodgetts of Sharp Inrerpack. "The trays had to be robust enough to cope with the rigours of the postal system yet compact in order to be carried easily."
