AWS Eco Plastics is gearing up to boost production of rPET, to meet a hike in demand for post-consumer recycling of PET being led by Artenius PET Packaging Europe (APPE).
AWS and APPE agreed an exclusive contract for 13,000 tonnes of purePET 78 per annum in 2008, and AWS says it has continued to supply on the contract despite a major fire in August 2009.
Production has increased on the existing manufacturing line at AWS Hemswell, which has just received planning permission to expand the Lincolnshire site.
“We can now push on urgently with our build plans for the new sort line. We are working to bring the new facility on line as quickly as we can,” said project director Simon Faulkner.
