RPC brings herb brand round

8 August 2003

RPC Bebo Plastik is supplying a new 85mm pre-printed polystyrene lid to Austrian food supplier Eskimo-Iglo as part of a move to swap conventional carton boxes used for its frozen herb brand with round carton tubs.

The pack, created for the Austrian market, is believed to be more consumer friendly than the traditional square boxes used with this kind of product.

Aside from easier pack opening, the round tub is said to keep its shape better on the production line while the lids stack neatly for non-manual denesting.

RPC Bebo is fully decorating the rim using its Bebo-print technology.

With the new pack, Eskimo-Iglo has been able to gain relistings for the herb brand in several major Austrian supermarket chains. Although the 40g tubs contain more herbs than the boxes, like for like sales comparisons for volume and value have shown a marked increase since the new packaging was introduced, said the company.
