The new 380ml Apollo container from RPC Containers Corby is described as a “modern plastic alternative to the traditional tin can”.
The high barrier Apollo features a PP/EVOH/PP multilayer structure for effective protection against oxygen ingress, and is suitable for a variety of food processes including hot fill, retort and pasteurising.
According to RPC Containers Corby, the new Apollo combines extended ambient shelf life with the lightweight, easy handling and safety benefits of plastics, as well as offering the convenience of re-closing.
The neck of the Apollo container is specifically designed for the Aptar Bap Trilogy closure, said to ensure “excellent pack integrity” and product freshness.
The foil seal features a plastic ring-pull for easy opening and there is an overcap for re-closing, to help the end-user to minimise food waste.
Apollo is also said to be highly resistant to breakage and denting, and avoids any sharp edges to provide maximum safety and convenience in the home.
“The Apollo offers all the established benefits of multilayer plastic in a popular container format,” says RPC Corby general manager Michael Stegeman.
“Just as important are its sustainable advantages of extended product shelf life, reduced food waste and light weight, which underline its relevance in today’s environmentally-aware markets.”
