Romaco line "cornerstone" of Hydrachem expansion plans

20 November 2006

Hydrachem, the West Sussex manufacturer of chlorine-based disinfection tablets and powers, has installed a Romaco packaging line as a cornerstone of its ambitious expansion plans.

Comprising a Siebler HM1/160 four-side seal machine and a Promatic P91 cartoner, the line is being used to pack HydraChem sterilisation tablets for well-known retail outlets.

Tony Willer, Hydrachem production manager, says: “Before the line's installation we were packing product on three old heatseal machines and cartoning by hand. However our expansion plans require a higher throughput - only achievable by increasing automation. The new line is effectively replacing all three previous machines; since its installation we have increased efficiency both in terms of manpower utilisation and in effectively trebling the numbers of finished packs we can produce each day. In addition, the Siebler's accuracy has halved tablet wastage."
