Rigid upgrades in graphics

18 May 2010

Corrugated packaging manufacturer Rigid Containers will benefit from a six-colour flexo rotary die-cutter as part of a multi-million pound investment in the UK business by its parent company, VPK.

The Göpfert 16/24 Evolution will produce ‘some of the best quality’ post print graphics on corrugated fibreboard cases at its Selby factory, where a four-colour version was installed three years ago, says Rigid.

“We will be in a position to expand our range of ‘stock and serve’ facilities, especially as customers require more and more high quality graphics on their retail ready packaging solutions,” said Richard Coward, managing director at Rigid.

A ‘very high’ specification machine with inter-deck dryers, the new Evolution ‘will allow us to achieve exceptional print quality on high hold-out White liners and enable us to enter the high quality, decorative graphics market with real confidence’, he said.

Additional investments include a SuperNova2 folder gluer line by Andrew & Suter, and an E-flute cassette for the corrugator at the Desborough plant.
