Rigid plant opens

16 August 2005

Rigid Corrugated has opened what it claims is Europe's most advanced corrugated fibreboard manufacturing and logistics facility on a greenfield site in North Yorkshire.

The factory has been built on an extensive site at East Common Lane, Selby, close to Rigid's existing paper mill and, it says, is the first of its type to be purpose-built to meet British Retail Consortium Hygiene Standards, all health and safety requirements and The Disability Discrimination Act.

It is equipped with a high speed flexible corrugator able to accommodate B, C, E, BC and EB flutes, with fully automated product handling and material control, and has a large warehouse and product tracking facilities to ensure delivery to short lead times.

The plant's opening is part of a major modernisation programme by the Rigid Group, which also involves its Desborough site in Northamptonshire.
