Rieke AVDS dispenser in Ultrabase cream repackaging

21 October 2013

The repackaging of leading emollient cream brand Ultrabase in a 500g AVDS pump dispenser from Rieke Dispensing will provide “a better experience for the patient”, the company says.

According to closure and dispensing systems manufacturer Rieke, AVDS features a unique dispensing action that ensures almost complete evacuation of the container.

“The easy-to-use pump provides controlled dispensing of the product while a special suckback feature pulls product back into the nozzle after dispensing for a consistently clean and hygienic operation,” the company says.

For added convenience, a security tab prevents unintentional dispense of the product.

Specifically designed to handle products of a very high viscosity that do not self-level and are therefore extremely difficult to dispense effectively, the Rieke AVDS range uses airless technology incorporating a special one-piece piston that pushes product up from the bottom of the container.

This ensures that “at least 98%” of the product is dispensed, according to Rieke.

“For maximum user convenience, it was important that our pump dispenser worked as efficiently and effectively as possible,” explains Andy Gilroy of Derma UK.

For Ultrabase Cream – a high quality emollient, used for a wide variety of dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis – the 500g pump is for use by patients on larger areas and for more frequent application.

The dispensers are said to be ideal for air and oxygen sensitive products, and a non-metal contact construction means they are compatible with a wide range of product formulations and ingredients.

The Rieke AVDS range comprises 14 pack sizes from 15g to 1kg, with dose options from 0.25ml to 4ml.
