GlaxoSmithKline is further reinvigorating Ribena with a claimed new category first flip-top valve cap designed and manufactured by UCP for the slimmer, more portable 330ml pack range.
The flip-top valve cap development initiated the formation of a new BRC-accredited manufacturing cell at UCP Norwich dedicated to manufacture and assembly of speciality beverage closures. High speed silicone valve assembly was made possible by utilising the recently launched valve sub-assembly (VSA) for Zeller Plastik’s high volume personal care and food closures. Assembly speeds reach 300/min; Zeller believes this represents a world first for silicone dispensing valve assembly.
The four-part closure comprises a 30-25 PET finish tamper-evident PP base cap fitted with the two-part VSA. The flip-top is anchored to the base cap by a tamper-evident band; when the lid is pushed open the bridges to the band break and the flip-top remains connected by a flexible hinge, making the pack easy to close and safe to carry in bags or briefcases. With the flip-top down, the bottle can be safely tipped upside down.
The 330 ml PET bottles are from Amcor and the full body sleeves by FujiSeal.
