Rfresh MB launch extends Linpac sustainable food tray range

12 December 2011

Announcing the addition of the new Rfresh MB to its range of sustainable trays for meat and fish products, leading multi-material packaging manufacturer Linpac Packaging says the rPET trays contain up to 95% food grade post-consumer recyclate.

The Rfresh MB tray is said to offer excellent barrier performance ideally suited to poultry and fish products, helping retailers reduce food spoilage and waste by keeping food fresher for longer, and giving customers a wider choice of environmentally sound packaging options.

A PP base film layer provides for stronger seal integrity and the tray can have either a lock seal or peelable film solution. The packaged foodstuffs are well protected due to the tray’s rigidity.

Joanna Stephenson, vice president for marketing and innovation, says: “Our customers can feel absolutely confident when choosing the Rfresh MB tray for their meat, poultry or fish products, that the packaging offers high standards in terms of product presentation, protection and environmental credentials.

“The recycled material used in their manufacture goes through our food grade super cleaning system to ensure we are not only meeting but exceeding food safety regulations.”

The Rfresh MB trays are a new addition to Linpac Packaging’s family of Rfresh tray products, complementing the premium Rfresh HB solution and standard Rfresh PP trays. All three are available in a choice of colours and tints and have been specifically designed to make the packing process more efficient.

Rfresh HB trays are also made from 95% recycled PET and offer the maximum shelf life for red meat and fish. The trays are available in a shallow format for shingling on shelf. The Rfresh PP trays contain a minimum amount of recycled content and offer a relatively low shelf life compared to others in the range, but they are suitable for use in the microwave and freezer.

Based in West Yorkshire, Linpac Packaging is an international market leader in the production of primary fresh food packaging and food service solutions – a multi-material technology provider operating across a network of 23 plants in 15 countries.
