14 February 2014

Rexam has taken an equity stake in Magna Parva Packaging, with the aim of developing new technologies for further lightweighting and energy consumption reduction in its can manufacturing processes.

The joint venture will enable Rexam to harness specialist expertise gained by Magna Parva (MP Packaging) in its aerospace and defence sector activities, and to apply this to the can making business.

Magna Parva has been recognised by the UK Government for sustainable innovation in packaging.

Dr Lisa Carroll, director of technology at Rexam says: “This move is fully in line with our stated objective to increase our focus on innovation.

“The new partnership will be a key element in our plans to ensure Rexam is at the forefront of can making and that we can support our customers in their need for cost effective, innovative and sustainable packaging.”

MP Packaging is exploring disruptive technologies in metal forming to further drive lightweighting and reduce energy consumption during manufacture.
