Resealable can reaps awards

22 October 2008

Ball Packaging Europe’s resealable beverage can with the Ball Resealable End (BRE) took three awards at the Can of the Year Awards ceremony, won the Best in Metal Award 2008 and has been nominated for the German Packaging Award.

The BRE incorporates a flat opening mechanism that can be opened with a slight twist and resealed again. The recyclability of the can is not affected, says Ball Packaging, because the amount of plastics in the end is minimal.

Coca-Cola in France is already using a 500 ml version of the can for its Burn energy drink.

The BRE is the result of close collaboration between Ball, Coca-Cola and Netherlands based Bound2B, whose director Antonio Perra invented the resealable end.
