Part of the UK's largest employer of disabled people, the Remploy Group, the company specialises in bespoke manufacturing, filling, packing and category management of personal care and household products.Its four current sites at St Helens, Greater Manchester, Aintree and Woolwich employ 340 staff.
The new factory, which Remploy says will triple its business, will house state-of-the-art development, analytical and microbiology laboratories. Personnel will be able to test all raw materials entering the facility prior to research and manufacture.
Russell Booth, general manager, Remploy Household & Toiletries, explains: "The facility will enable us to dramatically enhance our proposition to customers. We will be able to double the current capacity for products like shower gels, shampoos and handwashes and extend manufacture of cleaning and hygiene products."
When the facility opens, the firm will close its existing St Helens site and move staff to the new factory, where they will be joined by new personnel. Workers at the other plants will be re-assigned within Remploy's other divisions.
