Relocation boost for Centiforms

22 April 2009

Following its recent acquisition by Mercury Packaging, the Macclesfield based Certiforms food packaging business has been transferred to Mercury’s newly expanded 33,000 sq ft production plant Kirkby-in-Ashfield. The facility has a purpose-built conversion hall that will increase the wicketted bag specialist’s conversion capacity by up to 40 per cent.

Amongst the relocated Certiforms systems is a high speed, low maintenance Hudson Sharp 5750 converting machine for the manufacture of high quality wicketted bags for the food industry. The advanced system is capable of producing up to 450 packs/min in a variety of sizes, gauges and substrates including LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, and co-extruded films and blends. It can also run micro-perforated BOPP.

In addition, a range of styles and options are available: with or without gusset; tear-off perforations; punched handles; ventilation perforations; re-sealable tapes; captive flap and blockheaded.

As well as a dedicated print room housing its recently installed £1.3mn Uteco Onyx 8-colour gearless print press and extensive warehousing facilities, Mercury’s conversion hall houses a wide range of advanced converting machines producing simple glue line bags, point of sale, bank note and coin bags, high security bags, and mailing and courier envelopes.
