Patak's, the Indian food manufacturer, is said to have substantially increased packing speeds and finished product presentation on its pappadum line following the installation of an additional Ishida Qualitech tray-sealing system.

The major issue for Patak's was maintaining capacity as well as improving product quality by avoiding breakage. Ishida's engineers carried out a review of the packing line and installed a tray sealer which it says handles the products more gently and enables a neater seal.

Andrew Downie, Patak's group manager, manufacturing, says: "Improving capacity was essential for continued business growth but, at the same time, we needed to enhance pack presentation because this is becoming a more important factor in the purchasing decision both for our customers and consumers. Ishida Qualitech's installation has given us both these valuable benefits."
