Rapid and gentle potato weighing

11 February 2005

An Ishida multihead weigher specially developed for potatoes has cost-effectively increased packing speeds at Irish potato grower and packer The Meade Potato Company in Lobinstown, County Meath.

Increased demand led to the need for an additional weigher and simultaneously the company wanted to increase speeds from its existing 27 packs/min to closer to 50.

The Ishida CCW-M-214/50-SS-GS is specifically designed to handle potatoes and other produce requiring gentle, controlled handling. A low angle reinforced dispersion table with concealed fixings, semi-flat radial feeder troughs with waterfall end and safe edges, and double opening hoppers with cushioned, easy down inserts, ensures fast product throughput without damage.

The gentle slope configuration of the discharge chutes also reduces fall speed and prevents potatoes colliding.
