Quinn opts for Logopak labellers

17 March 2006

Logopak has fulfilled its largest ever single print and apply labelling equipment order, supplying over 35 different systems to two Quinn Glass factories, at Elton, Cheshire and Derrylin, northern Ireland.

Quinn’s Elton plant is possibly unique in the UK glass industry as bottles will be manufactured from raw material and then sent to one of three different destinations: a high bay, 280,000 pallet warehouse believed to be among the UK’s biggest, direct to the customer, or straight to the plant’s on-site filling halls for filling, labelling and shipping.

The combination of standard Logopak 920PF pallet labellers, VLP 210TT wide web printers, 906TKS special “top-of-pallet” applicators and 906TB90/400 units for tray labelling, are being used in three different applications. The first, applying labels to the top of finished pallets, was made more difficult by pallets arriving with height variances of 1.3m and already on a conveyor 600mm from the floor. The second is for standard EAN 128 pallet labels on stretchwrapped pallets, for customer and storage/tracking labelling, while the third is EAN and case labelling of finished, filled and packaged product using two-sided pallet labelling and EAN case labelling.
