Quick-change wrapper for fragile products

19 April 2005

Speeds of up to 130 packs/min, faster size changes – often without change parts – and positive handling of fragile products are features claimed for Autowrappers' new servo-controlled Flowtronic 130 BOE flow wrapping machine.

The company says packaging biscuits in "on edge" format is a frustrating business on mechanical flow wrapping machines. Unstable before wrapping, the natural tendency of the loose slug of biscuits is to fall over.

The conventional control method, with a complex system of side chains, requires costly sets of change parts through the wrapping process. Even small changes in product size, shape or collation involve lengthy down times.

With the Flowtronic 130 BOE a new system of servo-controlled articulated fingers provides positive control of the slug of biscuits.

Utilising Rockwell Automation's Control Logix system to co-ordinate an 8-axis Kinetix servo-drive package, the Flowtronic 130 BOE allows most product sizes and collations to be handled via simple adjustment.
