Quadpack lines up Technotraf US launch

11 April 2013

Quadpack is to introduce its new range of wooden components for fragrance and cosmetics packaging, from Spain-based manufacturer Technotraf, to the US market, at the Luxe Pack New York show in May (15-16).

The range from Technotraf – the company acquired in March 2013 by cosmetics packaging provider Quadpack Group, also based in Spain – includes bespoke fragrance caps, jar caps, bottle caps, boxes and powder compacts that complement make-up, perfumery and cosmetics packaging.

According to the company, Technotraf will “showcase its exclusive family of products, beautifully crafted from sustainably-sourced wood” on stand J9 at the New York event.

Technotraf’s components will also be shown complementing the perfume bottles of Italian fragrance specialist Premi, offering “a complete solution for perfumery packaging”.

Technotraf spokesman Jaume Ordeig said: “Wood bestows a real mark of luxury to beauty brands. It sends a message about quality, about dignity and about caring for the environment.”

Quadpack expansion
The acquisition of Technotraf in March 2013 was a strategic move that gave Quadpack its first manufacturing capability.

“Wooden packaging components are starting to become popular among beauty brands, but we’ve only just scratched the surface,” says Quadpack CEO Tim Eaves.

“This category is set to explode.”

In 2001, Technotraf became, according to Eaves, “single-handedly responsible” for introducing the concept of wood in beauty packaging.

“[Technotraf] knows more about the subject than any other manufacturer,” he says. “With Quadpack’s support, there will be nothing to stop it from conquering the global cosmetics packaging market.”

Established in 1983, Technotraf is located in Torelló, in a region of Catalonia known as Spain’s ‘cosmetic valley’. The company sources all its raw material from PEFC-certified sustainable forests and processes it at its 10,000m2 production facilities, fully equipped with woodturning and computer-numerical controlled (CNC) milling machines.

Quadpack will promote the Technotraf brand worldwide and incorporate its offering in its product portfolio.
