QR codes testing service

23 August 2011

Flemish Innovation Center for Graphic Communication (VIGC) is offering a service to test the effectiveness of QR codes after revealing that three-quarters of smart phones are unable to read printed QR codes that are printed on-pack and in other media.

QR codes are printed on-pack and in other media to give consumers extra information such as web links or event information.

A VIGC study concluded that less than one quarter of QR codes that it found in the printed media was readable with an average (older) smart phone.

The QR Code Test Service is designed to help improve the effectiveness of QR codes. It uses multiple smart phones and different types of QR reader software to provide the most accurate and comprehensive test results.

Clients receive a report on how their codes performed and recommendations for improvement.
