Putting the lid on contamination

17 October 2002

A new lightweight container design from TNT Container Logistics is claimed to mark a breakthrough in combating the risk of component contamination in bulk food transport and storage.

The Pallecon-Lite has been designed for storing and transporting bulky dry products and features an integral lid.

Says European director for sales and marketing John Wright: "The reusable unit has been developed with a number of meat and processing companies. It reduces the risk of contamination as there are no loose parts to worry about and a different liner is used for each application."

The sliding lid is opened by pushing it across the unit and can be locked into position on the sides. Once locked the lid is secure and remains in place. This is said to make inverting the unit much easier, safer and less labour intensive to operate and handle. It can be assembled in less than a minute.
