Proseal seals Italian job

Ready meals manufacturer Bakkavor Cucina Sano has installed two GT1 Tray Sealers from heat-sealing equipment supplier Proseal after it recently took on new business to supply a range of Italian food to Marks & Spencer.

The company manufactures these products on a high-speed line delivering upwards of 40 packs per minute, and says it needed a reliable tray sealing system as part of the operation.

The site in Boston, Lincolnshire, already uses Proseal equipment and found it to be reliable and effective, so Bakkavor Cucina Sano asked the supplier for an appropriate solution, specifying speed and user-friendliness as key requirements.

Proseal says the intelligent film feed systems on its fully automatic GT1 tray sealer provides enhanced control for excellent seal quality at high throughput speeds, while the Auto-Tool facility enables tool changes to be carried out in around two minutes. The Touch Screen Control user interface delivers a graphic-based operating system that is said to ensure fast, intuitive retrieval of all recipe settings from the database.

“The machines have maintained their excellent performance since installation, even when running more than 12 hours per day,” says Martin Murray, factory manager at Bakkavor Cucina Sano. “In addition, the image-based menus on the GT1’s Touch Screen Control make training and operation fast and easy for all of our workforce.”

Proseal’s OC Intelligent Filling conveyor, which is said to provide fast, efficient delivery of packs for tray sealing, has also been installed to complement the two GT1s.
