Pregis investment strengthens Jiffy brand

Pregis Protective Packaging Europe is investing £500,000 in new end of line packing equipment for its Jiffy brand at the company’s Winsford factory in the UK.

The company says the state-of-the-art equipment will both increase production efficiency for Jiffy’s range of protective mailers, enable orders to be tailored to individual customer requirements and further support Jiffy’s continuing expansion into mainland European markets.

It comprises automated robotics for the assembly of flat pack cartons and placement of mailers into boxes, along with vision systems to check quality and quantities. Filled boxes can be stacked onto standard, Euro or customer specific pallets as required.

The automated system is also said to allow the creation of multi-packs on-line for the first time for a faster and more cost-efficient operation.

“This major investment at Winsford demonstrates both the success and popularity of the Jiffy range and our commitment to continue to develop the brand to meet changing customer needs,” says Alan Weston, general manager Operation at Pregis UK.

“In particular, by further automating our packing lines, we will be well placed to respond quickly to increased demand for our products from across Europe, while continuing to meet the highest production standards.”

The company says the automated system has been designed to provide a template that can be replicated at any of its European manufacturing facilities, making the UK factory a centre of excellence for Pregis in this field.
