PPMA show to feature seminars on RFID

21 June 2006

Packaging Today’s sister publication RFID Solutions will be holding daily RFID seminars at this year’s PPMA show (being held from 26-28 September at Birmingham’s NEC), whose aim will be to introduce the technology and its benefits to newcomers and consider its likely impact on the packaging sector.

Last year’s RFID Solutions-staged PPMA seminars drew 150-strong audiences each day. Speakers from top name companies have been invited to present this year, with the topics to be covered expected to include the key challenges facing converters in incorporating RFID into different substrates; how the label sector is leading the way; dealing with the technical obstacles, e.g. interaction between tags and metals/liquids; the privacy implications of tagging for retailers and development of new “less costly” non-silicon-based tag production methods.

Entry to the seminars, being held over the exhibition’s first two and a half days, will be free; however those interested will need to register in advance. Full details will appear on the PPMA website (www.ppmashow.co.uk) shortly.
